The news of the train station that was open for a single girl had warmed up our hearts and made us remember the importance of education, showed a generous example of to what extent one can go for it.
As the story had gone so far, and had become so famous, even in the article that was prepared and the pictures that were taken, we see many people there. It really is a heart touching event and story. Going back to there, to the story and its moral, I can't help but think what would be done in a situation like this. Of course, it wouldn't become a news that melted everyone's heart, because the train station would close down. But you could hear the news of the father who takes his daughter to the school that is many kilometers away every day. Maybe not this too. Just another girl would be uneducated. This shows how Japan actually become that well, how they developed and became so strong in such a short time. 
About the other stations that were about to close down, I didn't actually feel anything and it looked natural to me that they didn't draw any attention before. Of course, when thought on, It really is fascinating how the Kami-shirataki Station is 84 years old and still is working, but it lacks the story. Shimo-shirataki Station too, which is 87 years old, but in a much better situation than the former ones, and has more trains coming there, thus, it makes sense that it wasn't heard of before. 
Another point catches my attention in this article. Trains, metros, fast-trains play a really big role in Japan, but we had the railways in our country closed while they still were new and usable. Now we are building up metro to lessen the traffic, and cheapen the community transportation. I can't help but wonder what it would be like if we kept developing the railway transportation.
To conclude, a symbol of importance of education reached its end, but will say in the memories at least for some time.
